NEW CITY ART FAIR New York, Japanese Contemporary Art Fair, closed its 2nd New York edition on Sunday, March 10th. Seven galleries from Japan participated in the art fair with over 1,000 people attending for the opening reception even during rough weather conditions. Attendees included art collectors, VIPs, artists, and art-lovers alike. Many past attendees and art-lovers from the last year’s edition also revisited during the NEW CITY ART FAIR New York 2013.
The art fair has been gradually infiltrated into the New York’s Armory Arts Week scene. Many galleries encountered new art collectors and remarked on strong sales. On a mission to deliver contemporary Japanese art to art lovers around the world,NEW CITY ART FAIR New York 2013 gained great success with even greater potential for next year.

About 1200 visitors gathered including art collectors, art fans, artists, and museums. The majority of the artworks were presented in New York for the first time. The visitors really enjoyed the variety of expressions, and the quality of the event, which featured sake served in a MASUZAKE (wooden measuring cup).
Japanese Artists in NYC Studio Visits
NEW CITY ART FAIR provided a rare and wonderful opportunity to visit Japanese artists’ studios by a shuttle bus. During the art fair, 9 NewYork-based Japanese artists discussed their work, and gave never-before-seen
glimpses of their private workspaces in Brooklyn and Queens, most of which have never been open to tourists. About 20 participants enjoyed the tour held for 2 days.
